Joyce Elizabeth Bland was born on October 17, 1942. She departed this life on December 29, 2020. She was the daughter of Beaulah Crowdus Darden and John Wesly Darden. She graduated from Central High School and was a member of Grace Hope Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Ky, where Rev. Angela Johnson is the pastor.
She kept our family covered in prayer as she was a powerful intercessor with a kind and loving spirit. She kept the energy of Beaulah alive from her kitchen, all who really knew her can tell a tale of a GREAT meal or family dinner from her kitchen.
She was retired from Iroquois Child Care in Louisville, Kentucky.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert Bland – (Junie); her older sisters, the eldest Evelyn T. Travis who transitioned on December 30, 1999; Thelma L. Cook who transitioned on December 31, 2003, her daughter Constance R. Bland and granddaughter Tela R. Harvey.
Left to celebrate her life and continue her legacy of faith in God are her four children: Maria M. Harvey, Quincy R. Harvey (Leslie), Michelle Hopkins (Michael), and Kimberly D. Bland (Herman); her eight grandchildren: Jon Peirre Harvey (Aissia) , Msytic A. Hopkins, Alica Williams, Elise Williams, Lucious Williams, Herman Bland, Demetrius Bullock, and Shekela Walker; nine great-grandchildren; along with four generations of nieces and nephews; a host of community children and faithful friends, whom she dearly loved.
She was eagerly awaiting and covering in prayer the blessing of her great-grandson, Kairo Pierre Harvey expected to arrive in April of 2021.
